Welcome to the Bulkley Valley Naturalists. We are based in Smithers, BC. Our club is open to people who are interested in the flora, fauna, natural history, and ecosystems in and around the Bulkley Valley. For upcoming trips and presentations follow the links
The club always welcomes new members. We are currently recruiting volunteers to lead outings, give presentations and assist the club executive with programming, and administration. Contact us to help out.
During the “Winter” months (roughly November – April) we host Evening Meetings featuring a photo presentation by a local or visiting speaker. These usually take place at 7:30 pm on a Thursday evening at the Smithers Old Church. We try to make these presentations available virtually through Zoom.
We host Field Trips irregularly throughout the year. The club is also involved in a variety of nature education and conservation projects in the Smithers area. Contact us to learn how you can participate.
What’s new on the website? We intermittently post new information on our Nature Blog. On most pages of our website (other than this homepage) you can find the most recent blog posts in a sidebar on the right side of your screen. We welcome contributions from members.
A few copies of our Nature Diary are still available!
The 160-page perpetual diary presents the long-term natural history data collected by BV Naturalists Club members and is beautifully illustrated with 66 original artworks by 36 local artists. The diary is a week-by-week chronicle of nature in the Bulkley Valley as it unfolds throughout the year.
A few remaining copies available for purchase at the following price per copy:
